OVER 600 JOIN KINSALE PINK RIBBON WALK 2016

Over 600 walkers and runnners participated in the fifth Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk today, Sunday 17th April at 12noon to benefit Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society.

The sun shone over Kinsale as the mast was adorned with pink flags and pink ribbons fluttered in a light breeze along the pier road and throughout the town. Kinsale shop windows and streets have all gone pink with balloons, bunting and flags, to lend their support as pink partners.

Every walker who registers receives a special Pink Ribbon Walk t-shirt and medal and writes a pink ribbon to dedicate their walk or run to someone. The ribbons are hanging by the start and finish line which adds to the spirit of the occasion.

DJ, Ed O’Leary, helped get the walk off to a great start with a warm up and ‘Amazing Grace’ with Sharon Crosbie, Kinsale Pink Ribbon Ambassador who was again joined by a group of friends from Dublin for the weekend, all participating in the walk.

Refreshments were generously provided in Actons Hotel by The Kinsale Good Food Circle, Cully & Sully and Tipperary Water. Additional sponsors include Eurocamp, Lilly and East Cork Oil. The closing ceremony was well attended and very moving as most people have been affected in some way by cancer.
