2016 HEINEKEN KINSALE 7s <br />
The Wooden Spoon Charity team from the UK were crowned 2016 Heineken Kinsale 7s Champions over Forces Exiles 19-15 in a tightly contested final. The Irish Development Women’s Team won the Women’s Trophy and The Lightning Bolts won the Men’s Open for the fourth time in a row. <br />
Now in its 28th year, the Heineken Kinsale 7s is Ireland’s largest rugby 7s tournament and builds on its success each year. Over 70 teams and supporters enjoyed great running rugby and the huge festival atmosphere in Kinsale RFC and in the town over the May Bank Holiday weekend.<br />

KINSALE PUTS ITS BEST FORK FORWARD IN FOODIE DESTINATIONS 2017’ <br />
Kinsale welcomed Foodie Destinations judges Zack Gallagher and Wendy Kavanagh, as it showcased Kinsale as one of the Restaurant Association of Ireland’s Top 10 Foodie Destinations 2017. <br />
During the judging process, Kinsale Chamber of Tourism & Business, Kinsale Good Food Circle and Kinsale Food Tours organised a mini food tour of some of Kinsale’s restaurants and shops, sampling local produce, meeting producers and a number of people involved with food tourism and education. <br />
“We are delighted to be shortlisted this year and wish to thank the judges for visiting Kinsale today as well as everyone for voting for Kinsale in the public vote over the past few weeks.<br />
“Kinsale has so many businesses involved in the food and drink industry, with over 60 restaurants and cafes, supplied by many producers and employing over 1,000 people in the town,” said Ciarán Fitzgerald, Chairman Kinsale Chamber of Tourism & Business.  <br />
As well as having a full calendar of foodie events and being the starting point of the Wild Atlantic Way, Kinsale is continually evolving as the town welcomes new people, their business ideas and inspiration. <br />
“We believe that our people, produce and passion are the recipe for success. The local provenance of our meat, fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables together with the mix talent of people from the locality and all over the world combine to offer great food, service and value to all,” added Ciarán Fitzgerald.<br />

2016 HEINEKEN KINSALE 7s KICKS OFF<br />
The Heineken Kinsale 7s takes place in Kinsale over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 30th April & 1st May and is always a popular festival for players and supporters with thousands of visitors expected in the seaside town.<br />
Now in its 28th year, the Heineken Kinsale 7s is Ireland’s largest rugby 7s tournament and builds on its success each year. It promises to be an action-packed weekend of competitive men and women’s running rugby for an attractive prize fund, trophies and medals. <br />
Kinsale RFC welcomes the Rah Rah Roosters from The Netherlands, the Wooden Spoon Marauders and Forces Exiles from the UK and two Dublin teams, The Wild Geese and UCD to the Men’s Elite Competition. <br />
Defending Men’s Open Champions, The Lightning Bolts return to Kinsale in the hope of making it ‘four in a row,’ with players from Dublin and the UK. However, there are a number of teams keen to take them on, including the Session Mott’s from Kilkenny, Lloyds RFC from London, Lettuce Entertain You from Dublin and host club Kinsale RFC.<br />
The Men’s Social Competition mixes quality 7s rugby with some fantastic fancy dress and great craic off the pitch too. The Cookie Monsters, The Ruckaroos, The Baa Baas, Topsham Tourists and Prestige Worldwide are just some of the social teams participating over the weekend.<br />
In the women’s competition, the French Navy team and WRR Ravens, an invitational side from Canada and Ireland return to the Kinsale 7s this year as do The Pink Ladies, You Well and the Bandon Avengers. An IRFU development team that is sure to cause great interest and excitement throughout the tournament.<br />

Former Irish International, Tania Rosser returns as player/manager for the WRR Ravens invitational side who will be looking forward to challenging The Ponty Butchers Women’s team from Wales, contenders in the women’s elite competition sponsored by Hayes Caravan Services.  Other women’s teams include Team Boom, The All Craics, Capsized and the Ballincollig Pink Ladies who enjoy the women’s social competition.<br />

30th ANNIVERSARY HEINEKEN KINSALE 7s KICKS OFF<br />
The Heineken Kinsale 7s take place in Kinsale over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 5th & 6th May 2018. This is Ireland’s largest rugby 7s tournament and builds on its success each year, with over 8,000 visitors expected in the Cork seaside town.<br />
The Heineken Kinsale 7s promises to be an action-packed weekend of competitive men and women’s running rugby for an attractive prize fund, trophies and medals. A high calibre of rugby players across all competitions is anticipated as well as a fun social programme. <br />
